In association with Ibstock Historical Society, the Palace will be commemorating VE Day by holding a local history day showcasing what life was like for the people of Ibstock during the 2nd World War.  Remembering our local heroes who went to war - telling the stories of those who fought and returned home and those who gave their lives for their country.  The Local History Day will also show how Ibstock people lived and worked in the village during the war.  This is a free event open to the public.

The event will include:

  • VE Day - how it was celebrated at the time.
  • Commemorating those who went to war and those who fought on the home front.
  • Exhibitions showcasing everyday life for local villages during WW2.
  • Ibstock in 1945 - then and now.
  • Archive film footage including newsreels, local and national film footage.
  • Photo exhibition.
  • Refreshments and cake stall.

This is a free event open to the public.  All of our VE Day events will be raising money for the British Legion.
